When it comes to finding a running watch I want something that delivers as much useful and accurate information for as little faff as possible. To that end, the Polar M200 answers my call: it works independently of my smartphone, it has GPS built in, it doesn't require charging after every run, and the interface is relatively easy to navigate.

Polar, the pioneer of wearable sports and fitness technology and the leader of heart rate monitoring for more than 35 years, is happy to announce that they are a part of the GoPro Developer Program and are using GoPro toolkits to introduce GoPro functionality into the Polar V800 GPS multisport watch later this year. The V800 provides smart, accurate and live monitoring of various training sessions such as cycling, running and swimming, and also tracks 24/7 activity and sleep.

Of course, there are multi-sport watches that can track swimming, such as the TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio GPS Watch, the Polar V800, and the Garmin Forerunner 920XT.

The M400 GPS Running Watch is a sleek-looking piece of wearable technology. It is a single unit with a stiff, durable, and adjustable wristband with ease. Relatively light, and slim, the band becomes more pliable when it warms up during physical activity. The interface is an uncovered micro-USB port on the back, which was a bit disconcerting until I realized that it’s water resistant to 30m and only needs to be dry to be used. An earlier version of the watch had a rubber cover, but it was finally removed due to the fact that it was not required.
